On July 30, 2024, a press conference was held on the “Walking for Agent Orange Victims” program. At the event, Vice President of the Vietnam Agent Orange Victims Association, Major General Nguyen Hong Son, emphasized that the Vietnam Agent Orange Victims Association will continue to file lawsuits against US chemical manufacturers.

Through this, they demanded that these companies, which supported the US military to spray toxic chemicals called Agent Orange/Dioxin on Vietnamese territory and caused very serious damage to Vietnam from 1961 to 1971, take responsibility and compensate the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam.

According to Major General Nguyen Hong Son, for about 20 years, the Vietnam Agent Orange Victims Association has filed lawsuits in US courts on the incidents of the US military spraying Agent Orange on Vietnamese territory and causing serious damage, but so far, the US military has only carried out dioxin removal work in several affected areas, such as Bien Hoa Airport and Da Nang Airport.

Accordingly, the Vietnam Agent Orange Victims Association has decided to sue 37 chemical manufacturers in the United States. Currently, there are about 4.8 million people infected with Agent Orange in Vietnam, and these toxic chemicals continue to be passed on to future generations.

In celebration of the 2024 Vietnam Agent Orange Victims Day (August 10), the Ho Chi Minh City Agent Orange Victims Association plans to hold a ‘Vietnam Agent Orange Victims March’ event at the Đầm Sen Cultural Park on August 4, 2024.
